What it costs
New-customer pricing starts around £76.28 a year for basic roadside cover, rising for comprehensive cover with recovery and onward travel. Two pricing behaviours to know: promotional first-year discounts are common, and renewal prices frequently rise well above the new-customer rate — check your renewal against the public price every year. Is AA cover worth it?
Worth it when: you drive high motorway miles where attendance speed matters most, you want own-fleet patrols rather than a dispatched local firm, or your household setup fits their multi-vehicle and family options. Harder to justify when: your driving is local and low-mileage, you mostly need home start for a temperamental battery, or you’re paying a year-two renewal price without checking alternatives — the scenario where the premium over value cover is widest.
